Production Officer Job Responsibilities

The Production Officer will directly supervise all rope closing activities at the Steel Wire Rope Plant, ensuring that machinery and personnel are suitable at all times.

Production Officer Job Duties include:

  • Supervise the entire workflow of the closing section operators and ensure that any necessary adjustments or corrections to the closing machine are made in a timely manner. 
  • Maintain an inventory record of tools and ensure that all equipment and tools in the closure section are kept secure. 
  • Turn on the grease heaters promptly and ensure that the closing section machinery is operational each day.
  • Accurately and appropriately report all daily tasks on the designated report form. 
  • Before returning any used tools to the toolboxes, ensure they are thoroughly cleaned.
  • Make sure that personnel clean their machines and the surrounding work area at the end of each workday. 
  • Ensure that operators consistently wear the provided personal protective equipment in accordance with the company’s health, safety, and environmental regulations. 
  • If the senior officer or engineer in the closing section is unavailable, make sure all machine parameters are adjusted to meet standard rope forming specifications before QA/QC inspection. 
  • Ensure that all produced ropes or cores (IWRC or Inner) are correctly labelled for traceability.
  • The production officer will oversee the loading of bobbin strands into the machine.
  • Perform any additional tasks as periodically assigned.

Salary of a Production Officer

Educational Requirements

  • The ideal candidate should have at least a first school-leaving certificate/SSCE or above.
  • Five years of minimum relevant experience
  • A member of relevant professional bodies
